The Hurt Locker Sweeps Oscar Awards


An entertaining and enlightening movie. The Hurt Locker is a 2008 American war film that follows a United States Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team during the Iraq War.

This film, The Hurt Locker, had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival last September 4, 2008, and received a 10-minute standing ovation at the end of its screening. It  was one of the most acclaimed films of 2009, earning awards and honors from numerous organizations, festivals and groups. It was nominated for nine Academy Awards and won six, including Best Picture and Best Director for Kathryn Bigelow, who became the first woman to win the award. It's her second Academy Award nomination. The film also swept the 2010 BAFTA Awards, winning best film, director, original screenplay, editing, cinematography and sound.
